Convention Center
International Conference Hall Islamabad, Pakistan
An 18000m2 covered area conference building designed to accommodate more than 2000 general and 350 VIP seats. An octagonal concrete building with aluminum geodesic dome roof of 63 m dia over the central arena. Circular beams were provided as per the geometry requirements and were specifically checked for hoop tension. Assignment included the preparation of structural calculation document for each and every element of the building for submission to Mot McDonald England for wetting and approval. All slabs were designed as per ACI coefficients method except at places where slab beam system was analyzed three-dimensionally as plate elements to get precise stresses at critical locations due to irregularity of slabs. Two-dimensional frames were also analyzed in STAAD III at places of cantilever geometry and load bearing stub columns. |
